PERSONAL TRAINING

Personal training at L.A. Gym

Train here.Or train people here.

We don't employ personal trainers and we don't charge them rent. The trainers on our floor are independent, self-employed, and here because they want to be. That works out better for everyone.

Looking for a trainer

Our PT board is in reception, with every trainer working out of L.A. Gym, what they specialise in and how to reach them. Come in during staffed hours and the team will point you at someone who suits what you're after.

How it works →

You are a trainer

No rent. No hours worked off. No cut of your sessions. Be a member, make sure your clients are covered, and the floor is yours.

No rent.No hours. No cut.

Being self-employed is hard enough. You're finding clients, keeping them, chasing invoices and running a business, usually on your own. The last thing you need is a gym taking a fixed weekly cut before you've trained anybody.

So we don't take one. We don't charge trainers to work here, we don't ask for hours behind the desk in exchange, and we don't take a percentage of what you charge.

  1. Be a member

You're training in the gym too, so you're on a membership like everyone else.

  2. Cover your clients

Each client needs a day pass or a membership of their own to be on the floor with you.

What that means in practice

Most gyms
  • Weekly or monthly rent, payable whether you have clients that week or not
  • Or hours worked on the gym floor in exchange for access
  • A percentage of your session fee
  • Restrictions on when you can train clients
  • Caps on how many trainers can operate
L.A. Gym
  • Nothing to pay beyond your own membership
  • No hours owed to us
  • You keep 100% of what you charge
  • Train clients whenever the gym is open, which is always
  • You set your own rates, hours and client load

What you get to work with

  • The PT board

A permanent spot on our trainer board in reception — your name, your specialism and how to reach you, alongside your cards and flyers. Speak to the team about getting up there.

  • 24/7 access

Early clients, late clients, weekend clients. The gym never shuts, so your diary isn't built around someone else's opening hours.

  • 100+ pieces of kit

Two floors, original MK1 plate-loaded machines, a full free-weight floor and a separate cardio section. You won't run out of options mid-programme.

  • Free parking

On site, for you and for your clients. No charge, no permit, no app. One less reason for a client to cancel.

  • Space to actually coach

Two floors means you're not fighting for a rack at six in the evening or coaching over the top of a queue.

  • A gym that talks about you

Members ask us who to train with. We send them to the board and to the trainers we know are on the floor and doing the work.

What we need from you

To operate as an official L.A. Gym personal trainer, two things need to be on file before you start working with clients here:

  • A recognised personal training qualification — Level 3 Personal Trainer or above.
  • Current public liability insurance in your own name — certificate in date, and a fresh copy sent to us each time it renews.

Email both to info@lagym.uk or bring them to the desk during staffed hours. We keep a copy on file. It takes five minutes and it covers you, your clients and the gym.

Beyond that, the expectations are the same as for any member: put your weights back, don't monopolise a machine during a busy period, and treat the other people on the floor like they're training too. Because they are.

What it costs your clients

Every client needs their own access to be on the floor with you. That's the only cost involved, and for anyone training more than a couple of times a month, a membership works out cheaper than paying per visit.

£6Day pass
£157 day pass
£40Per month

Day and week passes are bought at the desk during staffed hours by cash or card. Monthly memberships can be set up online in a couple of minutes.

Come and talk to us

If you're a trainer looking for somewhere to base yourself, walk in during staffed hours and speak to the team. Bring your qualifications and insurance and you can be working here the same week.

If you're a member looking for a trainer, have a look at the PT board in reception, or ask at the desk.
