Important Notice: Membership Price Update

Dear Members,

When I took over LA Gym in 2020, my goal was to keep alive a true institution of Bristol’s bodybuilding scene. Since then, I’ve invested heavily in renovating the gym, bringing in new equipment, improving the storefront, and making sure LA Gym continues to be a place that inspires people the same way it inspired me when I first walked through the doors at 16.

Over the past four years, the cost of running an independent gym has increased dramatically:

  • Salaries are up 45%

  • Electricity bills have risen by 100%

  • Council rates have increased by £7,200 per year

  • And almost every operating expense continues to climb.

We’ve worked hard to keep membership prices as low as possible, but to remain sustainable and to continue reinvesting into the gym you all love we can no longer support the heavily discounted rates of the past.

Unlike commercial gyms, LA Gym offers something unique: a community, history, and atmosphere that can’t be replicated. With our central location, free parking, and authentic old-school bodybuilding environment, we provide far more than just a place to train.

🔑 New Membership Prices (effective from September 2025)

  • £40/month (Direct Debit)

  • £45/month (Cash/Card)

💥 Loyalty Membership

All current members will be protected with a Loyalty Membership rate of £30/month, locked in for as long as your membership remains active. This applies to:

  • Students

  • Female members

  • OG members

  • And anyone already paying £30 (no increase).

This is our way of saying thank you for your loyalty.

If you are on direct debit any price changes will automatically take effect on 1st October 2025.  if you pay cash or card it will be immediately from 1st September.

Our Future Plans

These new membership schemes will allow us to reinvest directly back into the gym. Before the end of this year, we plan to:

  • Refurbish the changing rooms

  • Improve the showers for both male & female members

  • Add new, exclusive custom-made kit

  • Continue rolling out consistent upgrades and improvements

For Staff:

  • All new members joining after 1st September will pay the £40 DD / £45 cash rate.

  • All existing members keep the £30 Loyalty Membership, provided they don’t cancel. (any membership that isnt renewed within 10 days of expiring will be deemed as 'cancelled' if you are going on holiday please ensure you speak to a member of staff to 'freeze' so that you do not end up with a cancelled membership)

  • If someone cancels and later re-joins, they’ll pay the new member price.

This isn’t just about covering rising costs - it’s about securing the future of LA Gym, reinvesting in the facilities, and keeping alive the legacy of Bristol’s original bodybuilding hub. With your support, we’ll continue to grow and improve together.
